Golden State Mint Buffalo Rounds are a rendition of James Earle Fraser’s historic design of the Buffalo Nickel issued from 1913. The Indian Head nickel design is known as one of the best designs of any U.S. coins.
The front of this .999 pure silver round depicts a Native American and with the motto “LIBERTY” on top right. The reverse of the round depicts a standing American bison (buffalo) atop a mound of dirt. The bison was apparently modeled after “Black Diamond” in the New York Central Park Zoo. The rounds are hallmark stamped with their weight, purity and Golden State Mint and have a reeded edge.
Golden State Mint began making the Silver Buffalo Rounds in 1981, and have continued making these medallions daily in silver bullion due to their popularity. These medallions are an excellent way to buy silver bullion, easily stacked and stored, and perfect for investors and collectors alike.
